For the moment, sponsorship is handled by the prime contractors in charge of specific renovation projects. For example in Wallers-Arenberg for the renovation of the miners’ community hall, a project for which the prince Pierre d’Arenberg, great grandson of one of the directors of the Compagnie des mines d’Anzin contributed €40,000. The Rouvroy city council also appealed to sponsors for funds to refurbish Saint-Louis’ church on the Nouméa housing development. In both cases, the Heritage Foundation is in charge of fund-raising, targeting companies and private individuals wishing to support the refurbishment of these two properties listed as Historic Monuments in 2009 and included as World Heritage.
Starting with the fortnight specifically focussing on the prestigious label: « The Mining Basin celebrates World Heritage« . This operation to raise awareness of mining heritage is for example backed by Tadao, a bus network in the Mining Basin.
Annual sports events backed by private partners are another opportunity to discover the riches of the territory. These include the Mining Basin Raid, the Mining Basin mountain bike Challenge and the Black Pyramids Trail partnered by a dozen sponsors.
