It supervises the overall direction of Management plan and coordinates stakeholders. It comprises the Chairs of both general councils, the Chairs of the Inter-municipality organisations and the Mayors of towns within the listed sites and the buffer zone. It meets once a year.<\/p>\n<div class=\"paragraph-title\">\n<p>Local World Heritage Mining Basin committees<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Four Local World Heritage committees were set up at <em>arrondissement <\/em>level (for the B\u00e9thune, Lens, Douai, Valenciennes areas) to meet Listed Property towns&#8217; stated need to discuss and exchange information. Each agglomeration designated a &#8220;UNESCO&#8221; policy reporter in charge of leading these local committees alongside the sub-prefects.<\/p>\n<div class=\"paragraph-title\">\n<p>The Mining Basin Mission<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1474\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1474\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bassinminier-patrimoinemondial.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Conseil-dAdministration-de-la-Mission-Bassin-Minier-\u00e0-Oignies-le-26-juin-2014-copyright-Mission-Bassin-Minier.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-1474 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/bassinminier-patrimoinemondial.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Conseil-dAdministration-de-la-Mission-Bassin-Minier-\u00e0-Oignies-le-26-juin-2014-copyright-Mission-Bassin-Minier-300x185.jpg\" alt=\"Conseil d'Administration de la Mission Bassin Minier \u00e0 Oignies le 26 juin 2014 copyright Mission Bassin Minier\" width=\"300\" height=\"185\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1474\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Conseil d&#8217;Administration de la Mission Bassin Minier \u00e0 Oignies le 26 juin 2014<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Founded in May 2000 to support the reconversion of the Mining Basin after the mines closed, the &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.missionbassinminier.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Nord-Pas de Calais Mining Basin Mission<\/a>&#8221; is made up of architects, urban specialists and historians serving local authorities which wish to plan and develop their territory. Working with BMU, the Mining Basin Mission put together the candidature throughout the <a title=\"The inscription procedure\" href=\"https:\/\/bassinminier-patrimoinemondial.org\/en\/the-inscription-procedure\/\">inscription procedure<\/a>. Since 2012, the Mission Nord-Pas de Calais Mining Basin has been in charge of handling &#8220;World Heritage&#8221; status alongside the government. Funded by the state, region, Nord and Pas-de-Calais <em>d\u00e9partements <\/em>and inter-municipality organisations in the Mining Basin, its job is to protect and promote the heritage, as well as implementing a programme of actions to sustain this label.
